The first step is to clarify exactly what we will be doing for you. This can be done on the phone (see our numbers listed on the right) or in a face-to-face meeting, should we be in close proximity.
Each of our customers fits into one of three groups: bronze, silver and gold, depending on their budget. But a negotiation is required around the precisescope of each service.
For example, will we be sourcing articles for your blog, or will you? Are you able to assist in sourcing contacts for your mailing list(s), or is that entirely up to us? Will we be “tweeting” or will you?
These small points add up, and so we need to clarify exactly how we will work together. We will also need a person with authority in your organisation to authorise written material and links added to your website, blog and feeds.
We will then clarify the scope of service in a formal, written quote delivered by email. The quote will detail payment methods and requirements. You can accept the quote by paying the set-up cost. When that happens, the wheels will start turning, and we will start up all the services we need to run your web marketing programme.
Then, over the following 12 months, you will see your inbound links increase, more traffic will arrive through your blog site, your site will start to move up the SERPs (search engine results pages), and an audience will grow around your newsletter and feeds. Over time, these incremental gains will build up to deliver higher sales from your web site.
Note that we will be asking for a set-up fee and then monthly payments on the 28th of each month, to be cleared by the 1st of each month. The reason for this is that we will be buying services on your behalf, and we need to know that the funds are on-hand to continue.
Also note we will be asking you for a 12-month minimum commitment. Results on the web take years, not months. You have to think of your website as a garden that needs tending and regular watering to grow, and so it is for web marketing – constant small changes over a long time add up. Getting a high place in the SERPs is the result of a concerted effort in several areas.
